As a mail center partner, reviewing and approving USPS Form 1583 applications ensures that all accounts comply with USPS regulations before mail processing begins.
1. Application Routing & Anytime Mailbox Pre-Review
To ensure all compliance standards are met, Anytime Mailbox follows a strict review workflow:
When a customer submits missing, updated, or newly completed verification documents, the Anytime Mailbox Applications Team first reviews and validates the files.
Once the Anytime Mailbox team confirms the documentation meets postal requirements, the application is forwarded to your Portal dashboard for final partner review and approval.
Per USPS guidelines, partners are only required to manage verified accounts that have submitted a completed, notarized Form 1583 along with two valid forms of ID. If mail arrives for an unverified customer, hold the item for at least 24 hours while notifying the customer. Returning unverified mail to the post office after that period remains at your discretion.
2. Locating & Approving Walk-In Applications
When a walk-in customer completes their Form 1583 and has their IDs notarized/verified directly at your mail center, you can upload their documents and finalize approval within your portal.
Here is a step-by-step guide on Approving Applications.
3. Handling Proof-of-Address Mismatches on Form 1583
When reviewing submitted identification, ensure that the uploaded physical documents match the specific document types selected on the customer's Form 1583 (e.g., Section 9).
Mismatch Scenario: If an applicant selects a current lease as their address verification document on Form 1583 (Section 9), but uploads a driver's license or non-matching document instead, the application cannot be approved in its current state.
Required Action:
Reject the Application in the Partner Portal.
Advise the applicant to upload/submit a copy of the exact document indicated on their Form 1583 (e.g., their current lease).
Once the matching document is uploaded and verified, re-review the application for final approval.
